Game 1: Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  Falls to Caledonia After Intense High-Scoring Game

Thornapple Kellogg Trojans 's bats were strong against Caledonia on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough as Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  fell 21-8.

The Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Caledonia, giving up 21 runs.

Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  captured the lead in the first inning.  Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  scored two runs when Mo Sprague tripled.

After Caledonia scored two runs in the top of the fifth, Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  answered with two of their own.  Caledonia scored when Hallo singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

Caledonia took the lead for good with six runs in the second inning.  In the second Degood tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, Thelen singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, an error scored one run for Caledonia, Samp singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, and Hallo doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Caledonia scored eight runs in the fourth inning.  Degood, Thelen,  Heaton, Hallo, Lieske, and Clarey all drove in runs in the frame.

Lieske was credited with the victory for Caledonia. Lieske surrendered eight runs on seven hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking zero.

Maleah Bailey took the loss for Thornapple Kellogg Trojans . The pitcher allowed 11 hits and 14 runs over two and a third innings, walking zero.

Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  collected seven hits.  Sprague and Paige VanStee each racked up multiple hits for Thornapple Kellogg Trojans .  VanStee and Sprague each managed two hits to lead Thornapple Kellogg Trojans .

Caledonia saw the ball well today, racking up 18 hits in the game.  Thelen, Hallo, Heaton, Samp, Degood, and Clarey each had multiple hits for Caledonia.  Thelen went 5-for-5 at the plate to lead Caledonia in hits.

Game 2: Caledonia Runs Away With Early Lead in Victory

Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 15-9 loss to Caledonia on Wednesday.  Caledonia scored on a single by Hallo, a double by DeGood, and a single by Thelen in the second inning.

Despite the loss, Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  did collect eight hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Caledonia had 14 hits on the way to victory.

After Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  scored two runs in the top of the third, Caledonia answered with two of their own.  Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  scored when Mo Sprague hit a solo homer and Grace Zube singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.  Caledonia then answered when an error scored one run for Caledonia.

Caledonia pulled away for good with five runs in the second inning.  In the second Hallo singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs, DeGood doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs, and Thelen singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  scored three runs in the fifth inning.  Elaina O’Riley, Paige VanStee, and Sprague powered the big inning with RBIs.

Caledonia scored seven runs in the fourth inning.  The big inning for Caledonia came thanks to singles by Hallo, Thelen, and DeGood, an error on a ball put in play by Clarey and #8, and  by Thelen.

#8 took the win for Caledonia. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing eight hits and nine runs while striking out seven.

VanStee took the loss for Thornapple Kellogg Trojans . The pitcher went two innings, allowing seven runs on six hits and striking out two.

Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  smacked one home run on the day. Sprague had a homer in the third inning.

Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game.  Sprague and O’Riley all managed multiple hits for Thornapple Kellogg Trojans .  Sprague went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  in hits.

Caledonia tallied 14 hits.  Hallo, Thelen, DeGood, Samp, and #8 all managed multiple hits for Caledonia.  Hallo led Caledonia with three hits in four at bats.
