MHSAA CHANGE in Sports Physical Requirement for 2020-21
The MHSAA has ruled on a regulation that allows a student-athlete to use the previous year's 2019-20 MHSAA physical form for the 2020-21 academic school year. Student-athletes and their parents who choose this option WILL still need to fill out an MHSAA Health Questionnaire for 2020-21 (this form is available for download/print within Final Forms, on our website, or here). This is in response to the foreseen issue with scheduling physicals due to the shutdown and the possibly upcoming backlog of doctor's appointments to come.
NOTE: the MHSAA questionnaire is ONLY for student-athletes who currently have a 2019-20 physical on file with TK. The physical examination would have to have been completed after April 15th of 2019. If the last physical examination occurred before this date, it is not valid and the student-athlete will be required to have an examination completed before they are allowed to physically participate in their sport. A fifth or sixth-grader who does NOT have a current physical on file meeting these requirements listed above, WILL need a physical examination from a doctor to participate this year.
With that said, if you have a physical scheduled this summer, please turn that into the office when your student-athlete completes the physical and we will put it on file in Final Forms. We will be opening Final Forms up soon for 2020-21 registration. This has been challenging due to the changes and we are working with Final Forms to create a new format but we should be close to completion.
