Game 1: TK 11-Northview 7

Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  Clinch Lead in Seventh Inning for Victory Over Northview

Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  snatched the lead late in the game in an 11-7 victory over Northview on Friday.  The game was tied at six with Thornapple Kellogg batting in the top of the seventh when Elaina O’Riley drew a walk, scoring one run.

Mo Sprague collected four hits in five at bats to help lead the Trojans  to victory.  Sprague singled in the first, singled in the fifth, singled in the sixth, and doubled in the seventh.

In the first inning, TK got their offense started when Sprague singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Northview tied things up at six when MacKenzie English singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Paige VanStee got the win for Thornapple Kellogg. The righthander surrendered one run on three hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one.

Alexus Shiels took the loss for Northview. The hurler went seven innings, allowing 11 runs on 15 hits and striking out four.

 Peyton Stahl started the game for the Trojans . The righty lasted five and a third innings, allowing five hits and six runs while striking out four and walking zero

The Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  tallied 15 hits on the day.  Sprague, VanStee, Ellie Rogers, and Ebbie Appel all managed multiple hits for Thornapple Kellogg.  Sprague led the Trojans  with four hits in five at bats.

Northview racked up eight hits on the day.  Maggie Sandoval, English and Kylie Hoya all had multiple hits for Northview.  Sandoval went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Northview in hits.

Thornapple Kellogg Defeats Northview in High-Scoring Game, 12-7

Both pitching staffs had their hands full on Friday in a high-scoring affair where Thornapple Kellogg bested Northview, 12-7.

Northview fired up the offense in the first inning, when Abby Barnes singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Northview scored three runs in the seventh inning.  Northview's big inning was driven by singles by Alexus Shiels and Abby Barnes and a walk by Makaylynn Taylor  

Paige VanStee was the winning pitcher for the Trojans . The righty lasted seven innings, allowing 11 hits and seven runs while striking out five.

Alexandra Barto took the loss for Northview. The hurler lasted six innings, allowing 15 hits and 12 runs while striking out three and walking one.

Thornapple Kellogg had 15 hits in the game.  VanStee, Kate Caldwell, Natalie O’Riley, Sophie Haveman, and Elaina O’Riley all had multiple hits for TK .  VanStee led the Trojans  with three hits in three at bats.

Northview saw the ball well today, racking up 11 hits in the game.  Barnes, Presley Wiersum, and Erin Waldron all managed multiple hits for Northview.  Barnes went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Northview in hits.
