Thornapple Kellogg Grabs Lead in Eighth Inning for Victory Over Catholic Central

Thornapple Kellogg stole the lead late and defeated Catholic Central 10-6 on Tuesday.  The game was tied at five with the Trojans  batting in the top of the eighth when Elaina O’Riley drew a walk, scoring one run.

The base paths were crowded in this high-scoring game. TK collected nine hits and Catholic Central had six.

Catholic Central captured the lead in the second inning when A Deibis singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Catholic Central knotted the game up at five in the bottom of the sixth inning, when an error scored one run for Catholic Central.

Shelby Robinett pitched Thornapple Kellogg to victory. The righthander lasted eight innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out seven.

A Nemecek took the loss for Catholic Central. The hurler lasted eight innings, allowing nine hits and nine runs while striking out seven.

Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  had nine hits in the game.  Natalie O’Riley, Ellie Rogers, and Emily Offringa all managed multiple hits for the Trojans .  Offringa, Rogers, and O’Riley each collected two hits to lead Thornapple Kellogg .  O’Riley led the Thornapple Kellogg Trojans  with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with eight stolen bases.

Catholic Central collected six hits.  S Schoeborn and Deibis each racked up multiple hits for Catholic Central.

Game 2: TK 7 - GR Catholic Central 5 (6 inn due to darkness)

Thornapple Kellogg Clinches Lead in Fifth Inning to Defeat Catholic Central

Thornapple Kellogg defeated Catholic Central 7-5 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game.  The game was tied at five with the Trojans  batting in the bottom of the fifth when S Schoeborn's wild pitch allowed one run to score for TK.

Catholic Central scored three runs in the third inning, but Thornapple Kellogg still managed to pull out the victory.  A Nemecek and G Vicari all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Catholic Central got things moving in the first inning, when C Wesche grounded out, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the third inning, Thornapple Kellogg tied things up at four when Natalie O’Riley singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

Shelby Robinett was the winning pitcher for TK. Robinett surrendered five runs on nine hits over six innings, striking out seven.

Schoeborn took the loss for Catholic Central. Schoeborn allowed four hits and seven runs over five innings, striking out five.

Ebbie Appel went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the Trojans  in hits.  Thornapple Kellogg tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. O’Riley led the way with two.

Catholic Central tallied nine hits in the game.  Nemecek and Schoeborn each collected multiple hits for Catholic Central.
