Game 1: TK 12 - FHE 2

Emily Stevens Drives 4 Runners Home In Thornapple Kellogg’s Victory Over Forest Hills Eastern

Emily Stevens drove in four runs on two hits to lead Thornapple Kellogg past Forest Hills Eastern 12-2 on Monday.  Stevens doubled in the second inning, scoring three runs and walked in the first inning, scoring one. 

Forest Hills Eastern got on the board in the first inning after M. Mead singled, scoring one run.

TK flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on four hits to take a 5-1 lead.  The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in two.  

The Trojans added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Stevens doubled, scoring three runs, and Allison Wolowicz drew a walk, scoring one run.

Shelby Robinett earned the win for Thornapple Kellogg.  The righty allowed five hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking two.  R. Scully took the loss for Forest Hills Eastern.  She went one and one-third innings, giving up nine runs (five earned) on eight hits, striking out two and walking two.

Stevens and Robinett each collected two hits for the Trojans.  Wolowicz lead TK with two walks.  Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game.  Stevens stole two bases.  Thornapple Kellogg ran wild on the base paths, tallying four stolen bases for the game.

M. Kozlowicz, Sk. Tabin, So. Tabin, Mead and H. Amann each collected a hit for the Hawks.  Mead and A. Garvin each drove in one run for FHE.  

 

Game 2: TK 12 - FHE 1

Bottom Of The Lineup Carries Thornapple Kellogg Past Forest Hills Eastern

 

The bottom of the lineup helped Thornapple Kellogg capture a 12-1 victory over Forest Hills Eastern on Monday.  Chloe Bossenberger, Emalyn Cartwright and Kennah Cocco combined for six of the team’s 12 hits in the victory.  They scored four runs and drove in four.  

TK got on the board in the first inning after Emily Stevens singled, scoring a run.

H. Amann hit into a fielder’s choice, which helped FHE tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

The Trojans took the lead in the top of the second.  An error scored one run, to give TK the upper hand 2-1.

Thornapple Kellogg added two runs in the third after Bossenberger doubled.  

Kylee Hoebeke earned the win for TK.  She gave up five hits and one run over five innings, striking out eight and walking none.  R. Scully took the loss for FHE.  The righty went six innings, surrendering eight runs (2 earned) on 11 hits, striking out six and walking one.  Adelaide Holderman tossed two innings of scoreless ball for the Trojans in relief.  She gave up one hit, striking out two and walking none.

TK piled up 12 hits in the game.  Bossenberger and Kenzie Bouman were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for the Trojans while hitting back-to-back.  Bossenberger, the number seven hitter, led the way with three RBIs.  She went 3-for-4 on the day.  Cartwright and Hoebeke each collected multiple hits for Thornapple Kellogg.  TK ran wild on the base paths, accumulating five stolen bases for the game.

Number nine hitter, K. Burmania, showed depth of the Forest Hills Eastern’s lineup, by leading the Hawks with two hits in three at bats.  Amann led the team with one run batted in.  A. Garvin stole two bases.  FHE also tallied five stolen bases for the game.

The Trojans next action  will come when they host the Lowell Red Arrows in a double header on Thursday.
