Thornapple Kellogg Varsity Trojans stayed in it until the end, but Wayland pulled away late in a 3-2 victory on Tuesday.  The game was tied at one with Wayland batting in the top of the tenth when Mutschler doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Wayland pitchers struck out 16, while Thornapple Kellogg Varsity Trojans sat down eight.

Wayland got on the board in the third inning when Byrne singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Thornapple Kellogg Varsity Trojans tied things up at one when Isaac Kimbel singled on a 3-0 count, scoring one run.

Calkins got the start for Wayland. Calkins surrendered one run on four hits over eight innings, striking out 14.

Gavin Snelling was on the hill for Thornapple Kellogg Varsity Trojans. Snelling went seven and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out five.  Maddix Ferden threw two and a third innings in relief.
