Boys Varsity Swimming Season Recap

Game Date
Feb 24, 2023

Season RECAP -

The Barry County Barracudas boys swim team, had an amazing 2022-2023 season.  The Barracudas is a Cooperative team between Hastings-Middleville TK-Delton.  They were 11-3 in dual meet competition with most of the meets taking place at the Hastings CERC pool.  The team also finished well in a number of multi-team competitions.  That includes winning the Ottawa Hills Invite; tying for second place at the GR City Sprints; and finishing third at the T-K Hastings Relays Invite.

The boys team's biggest accomplishment was something that had not done before.  The team won the OK Rainbow Conference Meet by 15 points over rival Ottawa Hills.  It was neck and neck with Ottawa Hills and Wayland throughout the whole meet and the Barracudas were able to win the meet by taking first in the final race of the meet which is the 400 Freestyle relay in a team record time with great swims by Jameson Riordan, Riley Shults, Devin Pacillo, and Jack Kensington.  The team also set two other team records during the Conference meet including the 100 breaststroke record by Petch Jan-Id and the 200 Freestyle Relay by Riley Shults, Devin Pacillo, Blake Barnum, and Jack Kensington.  Literally every swimmer on the team was able to contribute points towards the big win.

The team had a number of great performances during the season led by seniors Mason Cross, Evin Lamance, and Reagan Neuman; Super Sophomores Nolan Send and Hunter Tietz, along with Freshman swimmer/diver Ethan Magnuson.  The team was coached by Tyler Bultema and Judge Mike Schipper.
