OK Gold Conference Championship

You can control your attitude, your effort, and your decision making, and our girls did just that. They were positive, in the right mindset, they worked hard, and they were thoughtful in their decisions. They controlled what they could. We did not have control over FHE being a juggernaut, we did not have control over Ottawa Hills being out of this world, as well as bringing in an amazing athlete we hadn’t seen all year, and we could not control Cedar Springs putting together a performance like we have not seen all year. If you asked me to predict the outcome of tonight's race, I would not have predicted it to play out like this. Regardless, after doing what we were supposed to do and by focusing on the right things, we landed fourth in the race tonight. I am very pleased with how the girls performed and I hope they are too. They make me proud.

In seeing the girls’ eyes they all basically had the same look about them. They were all working hard and not backing down, and they were also strong, smooth, and in control. This is what we needed from them tonight to allow us to keep our spot at second in the conference standings overall, albeit tied with Ottawa Hills.

The girls ran really well with three of our varsity girls hitting season best times, and I believe all of them have more to give, and that time will come.

This Friday is the Pre-Regional at South Christian. We need to run at least as well as we did tonight, but if it takes a little more, I believe our girls will make that happen. I’m not looking past this week because we need to concentrate on one step at a time and focus on the moment we’re in.

The junior varsity race featured 9 season bests among 10 racing today! Our jv girls have one more race, at the Barry Country Championship, and I hope they keep testing their perceived boundaries, because I really think they have new heights to be achieved.
