Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving - OK Rainbow II Conference Meet

Congratulations to the members of the Delton Kellogg/Thornapple Kellogg/Hastings Girls Swimming and Diving Team for their great swimming  time drops and outstanding dives at the OK Rainbow II Swimming and Diving Championship Meet conducted for over 150 girls from eight schools this past weekend.

Hastings diver Hannah Johnson took first place out of 13 divers at the Meet, and was selected for All-Conference honors.  Hannah and the other Hastings divers Shannon Brown and Claire Green all qualified to participate in the Regional Diving competition at East Kentwood High School on Thursday, November 14.

Thornapple Kellogg swimmer Abby Marcukaitis also was selected for All-Conference honors for her first place finishes in the 100 yard Freestyle and 100 yard Backstroke events.  Abby set new Team, Pool, and Conference records in both of those events and qualified to compete in those events at the Division One State Meet in Holland on November 22 and 23.

Hastings ninth grader Anna Haywood also received All-Conference honors for her second place finish in the 200 yard Individual Medley event and her fourth place finish in the 100 yard Butterfly event.  And, Anna and Abby both were part of the Medley Relay that finished in third place out of the 16 Medley Relay  teams at the Meet.

Joining Anna and Abby in that Medley Relay were Hastings swimmers Erin Dalman and Juliann Meeker.  In addition Erin placed fourth in the 100 yard Breaststroke event, and Juliann placed eigth in the 50 yard Freestyle event. And, another top place finisher was TK swimmer Daisy Nowinsky, who placed fourth in the 100 yard Backstroke event.

Daisy, Anna, and Abby were joined by TK swimmer Holly Bashore to take fourth place in the 200 yard Freestyle Relay event, and Daisy, Holly, ,Erin, and Juliann received All-Conference consideration. 

The next competition for the girls is the annual Chicks vs. Bricks (girl swimmers vs. boys from the football teams of DK, TK, and Hastings) in the fun meet that will be conducted at 3:45 on Wednesday afternoon, November 13 at the Hastings Community Education and Recreation Center.

4th - Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills: 313

5th - Delton Kellogg, Middleville Thornapple Kellogg, Hastings: 303

6th - Grandville Calvin Christian: 228.5

7th - Grand Rapids West Catholic: 95

8th - Grand Rapids Union: 80
