Despite numerous best times and performances, the Delton Kellogg - Thornapple Kellogg - Hastings Girls' Swimming and Diving Team lost the annual Cancer Awareness Meet to the team from Wayland Union High School, which currently is in first place in the Conference.
Taking first places for the DK-TK-Hastings team were Abby Dumond and Sophia Marcukaitis.
Hundreds of dollars for the American Cancer Society and the Lydia Cole Scholarship Fund were donated and raised at the Cancer Awareness Meet, and many family members and friends of the swimmers and divers from both teams who have been affected by cancer were honored at the meet.
The final dual meet of the season against the team from Charlotte High School is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27 in the Hastings Community Education and Recreation Center.
