Thornapple Kellogg Trojans Take High-Scoring Game From South Christian, 9-7

Both Thornapple Kellogg and South Christian had their offenses going on Tuesday, but the Trojans  eventually prevailed 9-7.

South Christian captured the lead in the second inning.  An error scored one run for South Christian.

Thornapple Kellogg evened things up at two in the bottom of the first inning.  Mo Sprague grounded out, scoring one run.

TK took the lead for good with four runs in the third inning.  In the third Sprague singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run and Sophie Haveman singled on a 0-1 count, scoring three runs.

South Christian scored three runs in the second inning.  O Baar and K Demana each drove in runs during the inning.

Maleah Bailey earned the victory in the pitcher's circle for the Thornapple Kellogg Trojans . Bailey lasted seven innings, allowing nine hits and seven runs while striking out two and walking one.

J Vink took the loss for South Christian. Vink surrendered nine runs on ten hits over six innings, striking out nine.

Thornapple Kellogg had ten hits in the game.  Paige VanStee, Elaina O’Riley, and Bailey all collected multiple hits for the Trojans .  VanStee went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead TK in hits.  VanStee also led Thornapple Kellogg with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with five stolen bases.

South Christian totaled nine hits in the game.  A Raredon and Vink each managed multiple hits for South Christian.

 

Game 2: TK 14 - SC 1

Thornapple Kellogg Claims Victory Over South Christian in Blow-Out Fashion, 14-1

The Trojans  cruised to an easy victory over South Christian 14-1 on Tuesday

South Christian fired up the offense in the first inning.  Paige VanStee threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for South Christian.

The TK Trojans  pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning.  In the third Carly Snyder singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run and Sophie Haveman singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

Thornapple Kellogg notched five runs in the fourth inning.  The rally was led by doubles by Mo Sprague and Natalie O’Riley and a walk by Maleah Bailey.

VanStee took the win for the Trojans . The righty went four innings, allowing one run on four hits and striking out one.  Bailey threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

A Raredon took the loss for South Christian. Raredon went four innings, allowing ten runs on ten hits and striking out four.

Thornapple Kellogg collected 12 hits on the day.  Sprague, VanStee, and O’Riley all had multiple hits for the Trojans .  Sprague led TK with three hits in four at bats.  Thornapple Kellogg tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. VanStee led the way with four.

South Christian racked up seven hits in the game.  O Baar, Raredon, and K Demana all collected multiple hits for South Christian.
