Thornapple Kellogg Trojans Drop Game to Wayland After Late Score

Thornapple Kellogg lost the lead late in a 15-4 defeat to Wayland on Tuesday.  The game was tied at four with Wayland batting in the top of the fourth when Mohon singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

The Trojans  struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Wayland, giving up 15 runs.

Wayland got on the board in the first inning when Wayland scored one run on a stolen base.

Wayland took the lead for good with four runs in the fourth inning.  In the fourth Paige VanStee's wild pitch allowed one run to score for Wayland.

Wayland scored four runs in the sixth inning.  Wayland's big inning was driven by a single by Ludema,  by Reed, and a double by Tornes.

Ludema earned the win for Wayland. The fireballer surrendered four runs on seven hits over six innings, striking out nine and walking one.

VanStee took the loss for TK. VanStee allowed ten hits and 12 runs over five innings, striking out one.

Thornapple Kellogg tallied one home run on the day. Mo Sprague went deep in the third inning.

The Trojans  collected seven hits on the day.  VanStee and Elaina O’Riley each had multiple hits for the Thornapple Kellogg Trojans with two hits a piece  

Wayland had 13 hits in the game.  Ludema, Mohon, Hulst, Tornes, and Reed each had multiple hits for Wayland.  Ludema led Wayland with three hits in four at bats.  Wayland stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Morse led the way with three.  Wayland was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Cole had the most chances in the field with nine.

Thornapple Kellogg Trojans Lose Lead Early in Defeat

Thornapple Kellogg watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 4-1 loss to Wayland on Tuesday.  Wayland scored on an error during Vanderkooi's at bat and an error in the first inning.

Wayland got things started in the first inning when an error scored one run for Wayland.

Reed was the winning pitcher for Wayland. The wildcat surrendered one run on four hits over seven innings, striking out seven and walking zero.

Maleah Bailey took the loss for the Trojans. The righthander allowed six hits and four runs over six innings, striking out four and walking zero.

Natalie O’Riley led TK with two hits in three at bats.

Kincaid went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Wayland in hits.  Wayland didn't commit a single error in the field. Cole had the most chances in the field with nine.
